The first generation of the Saab 9-3 was offered in liftback or convertible body styles, and was powered by a range of naturally aspirated or turbocharged inline four engines. Appart from the 9-3 Viggen, which was a performance focused turbocharged variant, the Saab 9-3 had various trims offered such as the SE and the 2.0T amongst others. Production of the first generation 9-3 continued until 2002, when the Second Generation Saab 9-3 was unveiled.
