Released in 1961 the Riley Elf and Wolseley Hornet were introduced as the more luxurious versions of the Mini. They both had a longer body with a slightly finned rear wings and larger boots. With a total weight of 638kgs, the Elf had larger-diameter chrome hubcaps, bumper overriders and touches of wood in the interior. Initially the Elf MKI used a 848cc engine producing 34hp and a four-speed gearbox. The MKII came to market in1963 by using the same carburetor as the Mini Cooper and now producing 38hp; it also had a more efficient breaking system and the possibility of automatic transmission since 1965. In 1966 the MKIII was presented with a facelift and a 998cc. In 1969 the production of both models ceased.
