The second generation of Rambler American was introduced for the 1961 model year. The second generation American was offered in a wide range of body styles including coupe, convertible, sedan, hardtop, and two or four door station wagon. Each of these body styles was fitted with a 3.2L inline six engine. Notable trim levels included the 400, which later became the 440 and 440-H, which represented the top offering. Production of the second generation American lasted until 1963, when the Third Generation Rambler American was introduced.
