Ron Tauranac and his brother Austin Lewis were two British-Australian car aficionados, who built a few racecars in the 1950’s with motorcycle engines. Ron would eventually become a co-founder of the Brabham F1 Racing Team with Sir John “Jack” Arthur Brabham in 1960. Ron later sold his stake in the Formula 1 team and founded RALT in 1974 along his brother once again. RALT became a manufacturer of single-seater racing cars, being present in several Formula disciplines and championships worldwide, Can-Am series, sports races for endurance and hill climbs for several years. Renowned names such as Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost, Niki Laud amongst others raced RALT cars to the victory along their careers. RALT had a merger with March Engineering in the late 1980’s; the group was eventually sold to private enthusiasts.
