Railton was an English automotive manufacturer founded in 1933. The company takes its name from Reid Railton, who was a famous speed record car designer. Railton produced a range of cars, most of which used engines and chassis sourced from Hudson. Notable models included the Railton 8, which was one of the world's fastest cars at the time, and the smaller Railton Cobham. Railton was sold to Hudson in 1939, yet production soon ended due to WW2. A brief attempt at a postwar production failed, and the company was shut down. A revival attempt in the early 1990's was attempted, but only a handful of cars were ever built.
