The all-wheel drive 997 Carrera 4 GTS variant was offered in 2011 and 2012 as a midrange offering between the 997.2 Carrera S and the 997.2 GT3. It was offered as both a coupe and cabrio, in both manual and PDK (automatic) transmissions. All samples were fitted with the widened rear fenders of the Carrera 4 model. The engine was the 3.8-liter six found in the 997.2 series, tuned to produce 407 horsepower. 6,947 were built. The rear-wheel drive variant was known as the Carrera GTS.
