The Opel GT was a family of sports cars that was introduced for the 1969 model year. The 1st Gen GT was offered in a sleek two door coupe body, and was powered by a front mounted inline four engine that drove the rear wheels. Two engine options were available, a base 1.1L that had an output of 67hp, while an optional 1.9L unit produced 102hp. The standard transmission option for the GT was a 4 speed manual, but cars fitted with the 1.9L engine offered a 3 speed manual gearbox as an option. Production of the 1st Gen Opel GT ended in 1973, but Opel would reuse the GT name for a run of badge-engineered convertibles based on the Saturn Sky that were known as the 2nd Gen Opel GT.
