The Datsun 280ZX Turbo was introduced to the US in 1981 alongside the naturally aspirated 280ZX. The turbocharged 280ZX used a single Garrett AiResearch TB03 turbocharger, with the 2.8-liter (often labeled as 2.7-liter) engine rated at 180 bhp (134 kW; 182 PS). The 280ZX was available in both manual or automatic, and featured a t-top body style with a 2 seater or 2+2 configuation. At the time of its release into the US market, the 280ZX Turbo was the fastest Japanese import on the American market. Its direct successor was the Nissan 300ZX Turbo (Z31) in 1984.
