The Datsun 1600 roadster (chassis code SP311 / SPL311), also known as the Datsun Fairlady or Datsun Sports depending on the market, was a mild update to the earlier Datsun 1500 model. The two most significant changes included the addition of front disc brakes (compared to four-wheel drums on the earlier car) and the deletion of the third seat. The Datsun 1600 was powered by a 1.6L inline-four (R16) engine, now capable of 95hp, paired to a 4-speed manual transmission. It was suceeded by the SRL311 Datsun 2000.
