The Series IV Metropolitan was introduced for the 1959 model year. This new generation of Nash Metropolitan saw a raft of small upgrades and changes such as a higher compression version of the established 1.5L inline four engine, a rear bootlid, and new interior trim. As the Nash brand had been discontinued in 1957, the Metropolitan was sold under its own brand, but it is still common for people to refer to these cars as Nash Metropolitans. Production of the Metropolitan ended in 1961, but a few stragglers were sold until 1962.
