The Evolution IX was the ninth iteration of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. Introduced for the 2006 model year, the Evo IX was offered as a four wheel drive performance car fitted with a turbocharged 2.0L inline four engine. Although the Evolution had always been sold as a sedan, the Evo IX featured a station wagon variant in the Japanese market. The most notable Evo IX variant was the top of the line MR version, as well as the UK-specific MR FQ-360 which was prepared by Ralliart. Production of the Evolution IX continued until 2007, when the Mitsubishi Evolution X was unveiled.
