At the turn of the 20th Century, Mitchell & Lewis Company were a wagon maker who ventured into motorcycle production before entering the automotive world in 1903. Mitchell built a range of automobiles during its time, achieving significant sucess and a strong reputation in the growing motoring community. In addition to standard cars, the company also built trucks and buses. While sales were strong, the company went through various owners, with sales peaking in 1917. A number of factors affected Mitchell production and sales, eventually leading the company to file bankruptcy in 1923, with production ending, and the remaining assests sold to Nash.
