The Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG was a high performance variant of the R230 SL-Class. Introduced in 2004, this new variant was developed by AMG, and features performance upgrades all around the interior and exterior of the car. Most notably, the SL 65 AMG is powered by Mercedes' M275 AMG engine. This monstrous V12 features twin turbochargers and generates 603hp and 738 lb ft of torque. All of this power is sent to the rear wheels via a 7 speed automatic transmission. Production of the R230 SL65 AMG ended in 2009, although the model series would continue life in the next generation of SL, as the R231 Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG. Mercedes also introduced a more hardcore, track focused variant known as the SL65 AMG Black Series.
