The Mercedes Benz S550e was a plug-in hybrid variant of the W222 S-Class Sedan that debuted for the 2014 model year. The S550e, which was sold in Europe as the S500e, was offered in a luxurious sedan body style that was powered by Mercedes' M276 DE 30 AL engine. This 3.0L V6 twin-turbo engine had an output of 328hp and 354 lb⋅ft of torque and a 80 kW electric motor that produced an additional 108hp. Power drove the rear wheels through a 7 speed automatic transmission. This variant was also equipped with externally rechargeable battery, 4 hybrid operating modes (HYBRID, E‑MODE, E-SAVE and CHARGE) and second generation recuperative braking system. Production of the W222 S550e sedan ended in 2017.
