The most notable variant available for the Mercedes-Benz W166 M-Class was the ML 63 AMG. Introduced for the 2012 model year, the ML63 AMG was a performance-focused, all wheel drive, luxury SUV. Replacing the W164 ML63 AMG 4MATIC, the W166 ML63 AMG featured a raft of improvements over the standard models such as upgraded suspension and brakes, and was powered by Mercedes-AMG's M157 engine. This twin-turbocharged 5.5L V8 powerplant had an output of 518hp and 516 lb ft of torque (549hp and 561 lb ft of torque when fitted with the optional Performance Package). Drive was sent to all four wheels through a 7 speed automatic transmission which was paired to Mercedes' 4MATIC all wheel drive system. Production of the W166 Mercedes-Benz ML63 AMG ended in 2015 when Mercedes renamed the M-Class to the GLE-Class, and renamed the ML63 AMG the GLE 63 AMG 4MATIC.
