Merecedes-Benz introduced their third generation M-Class in for the 2012 model year. Known as the W166, the third gen M-Class was a thorough update of the M-Class, increasing the model's comfort and refinement. The W166 was available with gasoline or diesel engines, available in V6 or V8 configurations. Variants offered included the ML350, ML350 BlueEFFICIENCY 4MATIC, ML400 4MATIC, ML550 4MATIC, ML250 CDI BlueTEC 4MATIC, ML350 BlueTEC 4MATIC as well as a top of the line ML63 AMG model. The W166 went through a facelift in 2015, and at the same time, changed the model designation, the M-Class became known as the GLE, placing it between the smaller GLC SUV and the larger GLS SUV.
