The Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG was a high performance variant of the W463 G-Class that debuted for the 2013 model year. These AMG-tuned cars combined high end luxury with high end performance. The G 63 AMG was equipped with Mercedes' M157 DE55 AL engine, which was a 5.5L twin-turbo V8 powerplant. When launched, this engine generated 536hp, but in 2015, output was increased to 563hp (torque remained the same at 590 lb ft). In addition to the potent drivetrain, the G63 also featured a widened body kit, and exclusive interior trim. When the G63 was updated in 2015, it was renamed the Mercedes-AMG G63 before production ended in 2018.
