One of the top of the line variants for the W210 E-Class Sedan was the E 55 AMG. Featuring a tuned chassis, subtle exterior tweaks, and a 5.4L V8 engine, the E55 AMG was a truly capable performance sedan. It's 349hp powerplant sent power to the rear wheels via a 5 speed automatic transmission. An all wheel drive version of the E55 AMG known as the W210 Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG 4MATIC was also offered. A total of 10,073 examples of the W210 Mercedes-Benz E 55 AMG were built before the end of production in 2002, and the model was replaced by the W211 Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG.
