The Mercedes-Benz 200T was a variant of the S123 Wagon that debuted for the 1979 model year. The 200 T was powered by Mercedes' M115 V 20 engine, which was a carbureted 2.0L inline four. This engine initially had an output of 94hp and 158 lb ft of torque, but from the 1980 model year, this variant was powered by Mercedes' M102 V 20 and saw an increase in output to 109hp and 170 lb ft of torque. This power was sent to the rear wheels via a range of manual or automatic transmission options. Production of the 200T ended in 1986 but the model series would continue life in the next generation Mercedes-Benz S124 E as the S124 Mercedes-Benz 200TE.
