The Mercedes-Benz 180a was the gasoline powered variant of the W120. Introduced in 1957. The 180a was a rear wheel drive car offered from the factory in a four door sedan body, although coachbuilt station wagon bodies were built by Binz & Co and sold through Mercedes dealers. The 180a was one three evolutions of the 180 (1953-1957) available right before the 180b (1959-1961) and the 180c (1961-1962). The 180a was fitted with Mercedes' M121 engine, which was a 65hp, 1.9L inline four. This engine saw small updates for the 180b and 180c with small torque and horsepower increases. Production of the W120 Mercedes-Benz 180a ended in 1959 with a total of 27,353 examples built.
