The Mercedes-Benz 220 was a variant of the W115 that was introduced for the 1969 model year. The 220 was offered from the facotry in a four door sedan body style, although coachbuilt station wagons were built by a variety of companies. These cars were powered by Mercedes' M115.920 engine, which was a 2.2L inline four that generated 103hp, which was sent to the rear wheels via a 4 speed manual or 4 speed automatic transmission. A total of 128,398 examples of the W115 Mercedes-Benz 220 were built before the end of production in 1973. The 220 was replaced by the Mercedes-Benz W115 230.4.
