The Mercedes-Benz 230 was a variant of the W114 Sedan that debuted for the 1969 model year. Although the 230 was only available from the factory as the 230 sedan and 230 Lang body style, a variety of coachbuilt station wagon, ambulance, and hearse bodies were also built by a variety of companies.These cars were powered by Mercedes' M180.954 engine, which was a 2.3L inline six that generated 120hp. This engine sent power to the rear wheels via manual or automatic transmissions. Production of the W114 Mercedes-Benz 230 ended in 1973, with 152,822 examples built. The 230 would reappear for the next generation Mercedes-Benz E as the W123 Mercedes-Benz 230.
