The CLK55 AMG was a high performance variant of the First Generation W208 Mercedes-Benz CLK that was introduced in 2000. The CLK 55 AMG was available as a Coupe or Convertible, and was powered by Mercedes' M113 5.4 engine. This handbuilt 5.4L V8 engine was built by Mercedes-AMG, and generated 342hp, which was sent to the rear wheels via a 5 speed automatic transmission. Production of the W208 CLK55 AMG ended in 2002, although the model series would continue in the Second Generation W209 CLK, as the W209 CLK55 AMG.
