The Mercedes-Benz CL63 AMG was a high performance variant of the C216 CL-Class that debuted for the 2008 model year. The CL 63 AMG featured a range of mechanical improvements over the standard model, and was initially fitted with Mercedes' M156 engine. This 518hp naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 engine was replaced for the 2011 model year with the M157, a 537hp twin-turbocharged 5.5L V8. The M157 was also available with the optional AMG Performance Package, which increased power to 563hp. Production of the Mercedes-Benz CL63 AMG lasted until 2014, when the model was discontinued.
