Lorraine-Dietrich was a French manufacturer that was established in 1884. Originally, the company focused on the creation of locomotives, but in 1896, Lorraine-Dietrich expanded into automotive production. The first vehicle introduced by the company was a four door tourer fitted with a range of third party engines, but within a few years, featured a bespoke Lorraine-Dietrich engine. The company continued to produce high-end vehicles during the early Twentieth Century, with moderate success with sales as well as in motorsport. After WW1, Lorraine-Dietrich resumed operations which included the production of automobiles and aircraft engines. In 1928, the De Dietrich family left the company, which was now known simply as Lorraine. After this, the company's new models were not as well received, leading to the phasing out of automotive production to focus on aircraft engines. Lorraine built their last automobiles in 1935.
