Lola was no stranger to the F1 scene after pairing with the Yeoman Credit Racing team for the 1962 season, with drivers non other than Roy Salvadori and John Surtees; placing 4th in the championship that year. Lola became a contender for many years to come, taking more than 150 Grand Prix starts and pairing with different brands and teams along the years. These teams included BMW, Honda, Hass, and Lamborghini amongst others. The last time that Lola attempted to compete in F1 was in 1997 when they paired with MasterCard and a V10 engine by Al Melling; the car turned out to be a disappointment by failing to even qualify for the GP given it was more than 11 seconds of the pace. The team withdrew from the championship after the first qualifying session of the season and never returned to F1.
