After not a very successful run at F1, Lola focused on other branches of formula championships, such as Formula 2 were they proved to be more competitive. The main competitors for the Formula 2 championship were March and Ralt, having Ralt doing business closely with Lola. In 1985 Formula 2 became the F3000 and Lola continued to be an important manufacturer, even being awarded by the FIA the contract to become the unique manufacturer when it became a one-make series. It lost the rights to be the sole manufacturer when F300 became GP2. Lola F3000’s used the Cosworth Zytek-Judd 3.0L engine ranging from 450hp to 520hp, while the Formula 2 cars had a different range of engines.
