The second generation Lexus SC was introduced for the 2001 model year. Known as the Z40, the second generation SC was available only in one variant, the SC430. The SC 430 was offered as a folding hardtop convertible that was powered by Toyota's 3UZ-FE engine. This 4.3L naturally aspirated V8 generated 288hp and 317 lb ft of torque. This power was initially sent to the rear wheels via a 5 speed automatic transmission, but from the 1996 model year, a 6 speed automatic was used. The Lexus SC430 was in production until 2010, when the model was discontinued.
