The 1965 to 1970 Series I Lancia Fulvia Sport was a fastback variant of the Fulvia Coupe Series I. The Fulvia Sport was styled by famed design house Zagato. The distintive body was completely different from other Fulvia variants, achieving more efficient aerodynamics and lighter curb weight through the use of aluminum body panels. The interior was only fitted with two bucket seats, and the rear hatch could be electronically raised for cabin ventilation. Suspension components were unchanged from the Fulvia Coupe, including independent front and leaf springs at the rear. Dunlop discs handled braking at all four corners. Power was sent to the front wheels via a narrow-angle V4 cylinder engine and a four-speed manual transmission. The Series I Fulvia Sport was cosmetically and mechanically updated in 1970 as the Fulvia Sport Series II.
