In October 1985 Lancia unveiled alongside the road-going Delta S4 a new version of the Delta HF, renamed Delta HF Turbo. As the Delta HF, the Delta HF Turbo was front-wheel drive and powered by the same turbocharged version of the 1.6-litre engine from the Delta GT.  Years later, the more powerful four-wheel-drive HF models were introduced, but the HF Turbo remained on sale alongside them. At the end of 1992, front-wheel drive Delta's were phased.
