The Isuzu 117 Coupe was a Giugiaro-styled, front-engine, rear-drive two-door fastback offered as a halo model for the entire Isuzu range. Upon introduction in 1968, the 117 Coupe was a limited-production model (around 50 cars per month). Upon transition to mass production in 1973, the car saw a mild facelift — with a more drastic styling change coming in 1977 with the fitment of four rectangular headlamps (versus the quad round lamps on prior models). The 117 Coupe was offered with four cylinder engines of several varieties - twin-cam engines displacing 1.6, 1.9, and 2.0 liters, single overhead cam engines of 1.8 and 2.0 liters, and even a 2.2-liter diesel four cylinder. Both four and five-speed manual transmissions were offered, as well as a three-speed automatic.
