The Honda NSX Type R, also known as the NSX-R, was a high performance, limited edition variant of the NA1 Honda NSX, that was introduced for the 1993 model year. Available exclusively in Japan, the Type R was a focused drivers car that emphasized performance over comfort. One of the main features of the Type R was substantial and drastic weight saving that resulted in a car 265lbs lighter than the standard NA1 Coupe. In addition, Honda also performed a range of improvements to the suspension, engine, and chassis which made the car better suited to track driving. Just 483 examples of the Honda NSX Type R were built before the end of production in 1995.
