The seventh generation of GMC Suburban was introduced for the 1973 model year. The seventh generation Suburban saw the introduction of the four door SUV body, and was offered in rear wheel drive or four wheel drive configurations. One V6, and several V8 engines were fitted to the seventh generation Suburban, which saw the longest production run of any Suburban generation. The seventh generation Suburban was built until 1991, and was replaced by the Eighth Generation GMC Suburban.
