Exclusively produced in 1968, the Shelby GT500KR is one of the most desirable variants of the 1967-1968 Ford Shelby Mustang. The GT500KR, with KR meaning "King of the Road," was the introduction of the Ford 428 "Cobra Jet" FE engine to the Mustang. The KR was offered in both convertible and fastback body styles, with unique styling cues such as the larger front grill and air scoops on the hood. Due to the termination of the agreement between Ford and Shelby in 1969, this was the last 1st Gen Shelby Mustang to sport the Cobra name. The 1st Gen Ford Shelby Mustang GT500KR was only offered in 1968, with 1,452 examples built.
