The sixth generation of Ford Ranchero debuted in 1972. This updated generation of the Ranchero continued to share many components and styling with the Ford Torino, while being built in a coupe utility (pickup), body style. Variants offered included the 500, GT, and Squire, while engine options started with a base 250ci inline six as well as numerous V8 choices. The smallest V8 available was the 302, while two 351 units, a 400, a 429, and a 460 were offered in certain years. A 3 speed automatic or 4 speed manual transmission sent power to the rear wheels. Production of the 6th Gen Ranchero ended in 1976, when the 7th Gen Ford Ranchero was introduced.
