As part of the Sixth Generation Ford Mustang, Ford collaborated with the famed Petty's Garage to release a limited run of special Mustangs. Introduced for the 2015 model year, these cars were built using a Mustang GT which was substantially modified both cosmetically as well as mechanically. The two main variants were the King and King Premiere editions, which came as standard with 627hp, but were offered with a supercharger upgrade option that increased power to 727hp. Later, a more powerful supercharger option was available that saw output reach 825hp. To celebrate Richard Petty's 80th birthday, the 80th Tribute Edition was also created, with just 43 examples built. Another variant that was built was the Warrior Edition, a special tribute to members of the US military.
