The 2007 to 2009 Saleen S302 was a conversion based on the Fifth Generation Ford Mustang that featured a 302ci performance engine, upgraded suspension components, and unique exterior and interior styling. Multiple variants were offered, beginning with the Parnelli Jones (S302-PJ), a tribute to the race car driver, the 3V, DH, SA, and an Extreme with 620hp. The coupe or convertible bodies featured aero bumpers, HID headlights, grills, hoods, and spoilers. The interior commonly featured multi-colored upholstery and unique trim treatments. Different styles of suspension components were used to improve on the Fifth Generation Mustang the vehicles were based on. The Saleen 302ci engine featured modified internals and an optional supercharger. Power was sent to the rear wheels via a five or six speed manual transmission with a limited-slip rear differential. 564 were produced, and the S302 was succeeded by the 2010 facelift Saleen Mustang 302 II.
