The first generation of the Ford Falcon debuted for the 1960 model year. The 1st Gen Falcon was a compact car that was available in a wide range of body styles, including coupe, sedan, wagon, convertible, and sedan delivery. For a variety of these body styles, both 2 or 4 door versions were built. Initially the Falcon was powered by a 144ci inline six, but for 1961 a 170ci inline six joined the range. It wasn't until 1963 that a 260ci V8 engine option was made available. These engines were paired to manual or automatic transmissions with drive being sent to the rear wheels. Notable 1st Gen variants included the luxurious Futura and sporty Sprint. Production of the 1st Gen Ford Falcon ended in 1963, when it was replaced by the 2nd Gen Ford Falcon.
