The Ferrari LaFerrari debuted for the 2013 model year as Ferrari's flagship model. When it was introduced, the LaFerrari was only offered in a coupe body style that featured butterfly doors. These new hypercars were Ferrari's first hybrid offerings, with a naturally aspirated 6.3L V12 engine paired to an electric motor combining to produce 950hp. Operating much like a Formula 1 cars KERS system, the electric engine was designed to improve performance where possible, instead of being designed for electric-only driving. The LaFerrari sent power to the rear wheels through a 7 speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Just 500 examples of the LaFerrari Coupe were built by the time production ended in 2016, but Ferrari would go on to build a limited production semi-convertible version known as the LaFerrari Aperta.
