A fresh course of action was taken by Ferrari with the introduction of the Dino 206 GT. The small sports car was named after Enzo Ferrari's son, Dino, and given a spider or coupe shape by Pininfarina. Produced in 1967, the car's forward-thinking mid-engine transversely fitted 2.0L, aluminum, dual overhead cam V6 was accompanied by other distinct characteristics: a 5-speed manual gearbox, aluminum body, independent suspension, and electronic ignition. The Dino 206 GT was also notable in its production numbers; at 152, Ferrari made more than any previous model. 1969 marked the end of production, which was followed by the introduction of the Ferrari Dino 246 GT.
