The Edsel Corsair was a family of cars that debut for the 1958 model year. The Corsair was positioned under Edsel's flagship Citation, and was initially offered in two and four door hardtop body styles, although for 1959, convertible, coupe, and sedan body styles were available. Due to Edsel's commercial failure, Ford shifted Corsair production on less expensive Ford platforms, as the Corsair had been based on a Mercury platform for 1958. This change in platform also changed the Corsair's engine, as 1958 models were fitted with a 6.7L V8 engine, but 1959s were powered by a 5.4L V8 engine. Production of the Edsel Corsair lasted until 1959, when the model was discontinued.
