The Duesenberg Model SJ was introduced in 1932. The SJ was a supercharged version of the Model J, and featured a massive 325hp from the 6.9L inline eight engine. SJ cars were originally easily distinguishable, with their distinctive four chromed exhaust pipes, but soon Duesenberg offered these as an option for all Model J cars. Like the Model J, the SJ was offered in a wide range of coachbuilt body styles, yet total production was limited, with just 36 examples built. It is very common to find Model J cars retrofitted with superchargers, with some being fitted by the factory, and others done independently. This market features all SJ examples, included retrofitted examples, so it is important to pay attention to each cars provenance.
