The Dort Motor Car Company was an American automotive manufacturer that began operations in 1915. Founded in Flint, Michigan, Dort had roots in building horse-drawn vehicles, before entering the automotive world. The company built a wide range of vehicles, and although considered expensive, their cars were well-known for the reliability and durability. Canadian versions of Dort cars were also built, but were sold under the Gray-Dort brand. In 1924, the company founder J. Dallas Dort decided to retire, and liquidated the company.
