The third generation of Dodge Viper was introduced for the 2003 model year. This updated generation of Viper is referred to as the ZB I, and was first offered solely as a Roadster, yet a Coupe would be added for 2006. For the previous generation, the roadster had been known as the RT/10, and the coupe as the GTS, but for the ZB I generation, both variants were consolidated under the SRT-10 name. Both body styles received an 8.3L V10 engine that produced 500hp, mated to a six speed manual transmission. Over the course of production, Dodge released various limited editions such as the Mamba Edition, VCA (Viper Club of America) Edition, and Copperhead Edition. These special editions were largely limited to simple superficial changes such as paint and interior trim. Notable limited editions included the Viper Voi.9 Edition, which was created to celebrate the ninth annual Viper Owners Invitiational, and the Mamba Edition. Production of the third generation Viper lasted until 2006, with no 2007 Viper offerings in order to prepare for the Fourth Generation Dodge Viper.
