The Junior was introduced by DKW in 1959. This coupe was characterized by its light body, front-wheel drive and 741cc inline 3 engine. Always with a 4-speed manual transmission, the Junior was a success in the European small car market. Its improved variant introduced in 1961, the Junior De Luxe, had more luggage space and a wider cabin. The engine also changed to a 796cc inline 3. The DKW Junior was produced until 1964 when it was replaced by the F12.
