Cord was an American automotive manufacturer founded in 1929. E.L. Cord, who was running the Auburn Automobile Company, decided to create a range of ultra high end automobiles, built by Auburn, but branded Cord. Only three short lived models were built during the company's time: the L-29, 810, and 812. These cars featured remarkable styling, but were beset by quality and engineering issues that prevented any sort of success. In 1937, due to financial mismanagement and problems caused by the Great Depression, Cord and its subsidiaries, Auburn and Duesenberg, went out of business.
