The Chevrolet K2500 was a variant of the 4th Gen Chevrolet C/K that debuted for the 1988 model year. Whereas for previous generations of the C/K, Chevrolet had used K10, K20, and K30 to designate their four wheel drive 1/2, 3/4, and 1 ton trucks, the 4th Gen C/K introduced a new naming system that replaced the K20 with the K2500. The 3/4 ton, four wheel drive K2500 was available with a selection of engines that included a standard 5.7L V8, alongside larger optional gasoline or diesel V8 units. These engines were paired with manual or automatic transmissions. Both a short (6.5 feet) and long (8 feet) truck bed were available, with either the sleek Fleetside or new Sportside bedside. The Sportside bed replaced the previous Stepside bed and was only available on the 6.5 foot bed. The K2500 was also offered in a range of trims, including the top of the line Silverado. Production of the 4th Gen Chevrolet K2500 ended in 2000, with these trucks replaced by the Chevrolet Silverado.
