The fourth generation of Chevrolet Caprice debuted for the 1991 model year. This new generation featured sleeker, more rounded styling, and was only available as a sedan or station wagon. 'Caprice' and 'Caprice Classic' trim levels were offered, as was a selection of V8 engines. Production of the Caprice ended in North America in 1996, yet production continued in the Australian market until 2017. Chevrolet later imported a range of Australian Caprice sedans for use as patrol cars. These police vehicles were known as the Caprice PPV.
