Alongside the notable Roadmaster Skylark and Estate Wagon, a wide range of Standard Variants, or base cars were offered for the 5th Gen Buick Roadmaster. These cars were initially fitted with a 320ci (5.2L) straight eight engine, with a 322ci (5.3L) V8 replacing this engine for 1953. Regardless of the engine, these cars were equipped with a 2 speed Dynaflow automatic transmission that sent drive to the rear wheels. Production of the 5th Gen Roadmaster ended in 1953, when it was replaced by the next generation 6th Gen Buick Roadmaster.
