The second generation of BMW Z4 was introduced for the 2009 model year. Known as the E89, the second generation Z4 featured a retractable hard top roof, meaning only a single body style was offered. Unlike the first generation E85, the E89 did not feature any M variants, making the top of the line model the sDrive35is. Produced until 2016, the E89 was replaced by the G29 for the 2018 model year, two years after E89 production ended.
